Learning about the weather, the children have created their own weather charts to put on display in the classroom.
The children understand that they should not go outside without their coats and may need a hat, scarf or gloves. They can identify if the weather is cold, or wet and then know to wear the appropriate clothing for the environment they are in, encouraging their independence.
A familiar environment and predictable routine gives children confidence to take charge of their own activities. They can therefore become familiar with the routine at both nursery and home, allowing them to develop their independence.
