As we enjoy the Autumn weather, the children at the nursery are learning to recognise the changes in season. They are in a fabulous routine of wearing their coats when playing outside, and know to wear certain items such as wellies or gloves when in muddy or very cold weather.
They have taken part in many fun activities to engage with the changes that come during Autumn. The children have been practising their numeracy skills and learning to recognise numbers by putting the correct amount of ‘apples’ on the corresponding tree.
They have also been developing their fine motor skills by using tweezers to move the apples and to pick up pine cones in various fun activities. The children have learned to use them independently to pick the items up.
Going for walks in the garden, in the local area and to shops, the children are recognising different things like leaves falling and changing colour, conkers on the ground and decorations for events such as Halloween. They have been counting pumpkins of different sizes and colours to introduce them to the Halloween festivities.
There has been lots of brilliant imaginative play in the mud kitchen, creating teas, soups and pies.
